Demonstrate how easy it is to squeeze out the contents from the can, then pick a volunteer and ask them to try to put the cheese back into the can. Of course it is impossible.
Angry, sarcastic words, derogatory names, or mean comments are very easy to say. But it is difficult and maybe impossible to fix the damage done by idle or angry words.
You could use any other object that squeezes out of the top like toothpaste or whipped cream or something like that. The author chose the cheese because you can spread it on crackers at the end of the lesson.

The best way to communicate with me is to ask your questions here in the Forum. I value your emails, but I answer the same things over and over and over and .... you get the idea.
If your email is a personal or business communication, you may use the contact form to email me, but please consider the forum first. Thanks!
An object lesson is a short, thought-provoking message often used as an attention-getter at the beginning or end of a lesson. Please visit our LDS Activities section for activities that take 30 minutes or more.
Each idea in our collection of LDS Object Lessons was shared by the visitors and members of this website. We are able to host them free of charge, thanks to proceeds from our LDS store.
If you can share a file or idea, please email it to [email protected] with a description, or you can upload it directly to the website. Thank you for sharing your great ideas! Together, we're perfecting the saints, one lesson at a time.
